About Dr. R. Daniel Hagerty
Dr. R. Daniel Hagerty is a board-certified physician and the founder and Chief Medical
Officer of Premier Lipedema Clinic in Spokane, Washington. He earned his medical
degree and a Master of Science in Physiology and Biomedical Engineering from the
University of Arizona in 2004. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency and an
advanced fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound through MetroHealth Medical Center,
Case Western Reserve University, and the Cleveland Clinic.
For the past seven years, Dr. Hagerty has focused extensively on the recognition,
diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment of lipedema. His specialized training includes
a fellowship in Germany with Dr. Josef Stutz, one of the pioneering surgeons in
lymphatic-sparing liposuction, who has treated patients with lipedema for more than 30
years.
Through his clinical practice, Dr. Hagerty has evaluated and treated hundreds of
patients with lipedema and performed thousands of therapeutic lipedema reduction
procedures. His work emphasizes the accurate diagnosis and differentiation of lipedema
from other adipose, vascular, and lymphatic disorders, and individualized, evidence-
informed care.
Dr. Hagerty is also a founding member of the Lipedema Society, a pioneering U.S.-
based professional medical organization bringing together physicians, surgeons, allied
healthcare professionals, and researchers dedicated to advancing lipedema standards,
education, and access to care. As a member of its Surgical Committee, he is helping
develop the Surgical Standard of Care for lipedema treatment in the United States.
A longtime medical educator and physician mentor, Dr. Hagerty is committed to
improving physician recognition of lipedema and expanding access to knowledgeable,
compassionate care throughout North America.
