About Katrina Njie

Katrina is an Alberta-based patient advocate with nearly 20 years of healthcare experience, spanning nursing and laboratory medicine. Driven by both professional expertise and lived experience, she fiercely champions patient autonomy and inclusive care. Currently completing post-secondary education in health administration and policy, Katrina’s focus is on amplifying marginalized voices and simplifying complex medical systems for patients and their families. As someone living with lipedema, she brings a deeply personal perspective to her mission to create equitable, accessible healthcare. Originally from British Columbia, she now lives in Edmonton with her husband and two children.
